Eye-catching, storytelling animation for the LCNI Conference
- Creating a narrative that explained National Grid’s Project CLoCC
- Producing an animation style that puts audience benefits first
- Creating a suite of films for use at the LCNI Conference and beyond.
How do you tell a story at a glance, and grab the attention of a thousand delegates?
That was the challenge National Grid set, announcing that they would make a return to the annual Low Carbon Networks and Innovation (LCNI) conference. LCNI is a platform for networks, customers and stakeholders to share the latest breakthroughs in innovation, and to discuss how the industry can tackle the challenges ahead.
For National Grid’s Gas Transmission network, this meant telling the story of Customer Low Cost Connections, known as Project CLoCC. With so many things at LCNI to see and do, they needed something that would catch the eye of passers-by.
Working with the National Grid team, 44 created Bob and Rachel. Bob and Rachel were two representative CLoCC customers, through which we could tell their story and explain the benefits each type of customer receives.
Combining the narrative with a visually clear animation style, we created a series of videos that told this story quickly and effectively.
Working with National Grid’s events team, we also produced mini websites that served as the touchscreen software for the displays at the conference. These were part of the brand, put the customer first and offered the videos up full screen.
Following the initial success and clarity of the videos, we were also asked to create another four animations to illustrate other projects at the conference and beyond.
The materials we produced were on display for more than 1,600 visitors to the LCNI conference and were also shown at Utility Week Live 2018, which explored the tech and product solutions transforming the way gas, water and electricity utilities do business.
