A fresh view for Sizewell C-View

The challenge

Sizewell C is a new nuclear power station being constructed in Suffolk which, upon completion, will generate low-carbon electricity for at least 60 years. In 2023, we were asked to launch a colleague newspaper that would help the workforce stay up to date with the project’s progress.

Two years (and five issues) later, we took the opportunity to evolve the publication, Sizewell C-View, in line with the organisation’s new brand guidelines. It was an opportunity to push the envelope by leaning more heavily on its tabloid inspiration.

The solution

We started with a different masthead and then introduced new elements through the newspaper, including revised branding for regular features, to keep the pace of the publication flowing.

We were working on a quick turnaround issue, so were able to develop the new design in line with real copy, which brought the content for this health and safety special to life.

The results

The new designs were brilliantly received by the client team and in line with their desire to make Sizewell C-View look and feel like other tabloids that its workforce is familiar with.

The pull-out-and-keep calendar on the centre spread promoting September’s campaign month and the tear-off health and wellbeing resource panel proved popular, and the bespoke Sizewell crossword will be a new regular that’ll keep team members occupied on their breaks.
