Discovering what users and the business needed from Volkswagen Financial Services UK’s new intranet

As Volkswagen Financial Services UK continues to innovate in the automotive finance sector, it naturally needs the tools and platforms that give colleagues the latest news, information and collaboration tools to achieve its ambitious goals. The Communications Team invited 44 Communications to help them understand what the business and colleagues needed – and to help them marry the two together in the best possible approach.
The Volkswagen Financial Services UK Intranet Discovery Report is the product of three workshops: with stakeholders; its employee forum; and colleagues. We also conducted research into the most suitable intranet products on the market. We distilled the findings down into a 40-page report that illustrated 11 key themes of development, six further opportunities to explore, eight colleague profiles, a map of its current technology landscape, and a features wish list.
The Discovery Report was designed and subsequently delivered at a stakeholder meeting, ultimately allowing the Communications Team to focus its attention in a more direct way, based on what colleagues said they want and need. The team is now basing its intranet development on the findings, and will continue to deliver and launch the new intranet in 2019.
