Want to draw a unicorn?
If you’re looking for something to help keep the kids (and the big kids!) entertained, then look no further. Our Project Manager and artistic ace Amie Pryal has put together a fun, easy step-by-step guide to draw your very own unicorn in six easy steps.
Read on for more information and click here to download the guide in an easy-to-print format. Happy drawing!
STEP 1:
Draw a U-shape for the head and add two large circles for the eyes. Draw two smaller circles inside the eyes for a cartoon look.
STEP 2:
Draw two triangle shapes above the head for the ears. Put these equally spaced apart. Add two small lines at the bottom of the U-shape for nostrils and two lines in the ears.
STEP 3:
Draw smaller circles between the ears, one on top of the other. Then add a pointy top for the horn. Add the fringe around the ears and horn to fill in the gaps. Be creative – it’s only hair so it doesn’t have to be perfect!
STEP 4:
For the legs draw two large circles beneath the head and add three lines in the middle of the two circles. Join the three lines together at the bottom with a W-shape. Then add two curved lines a little higher to create the line of the hooves.
STEP 5:
Draw lines to connect the two circles to the head and legs. Add a ponytail by drawing small U-shapes along the head on one side, and down the body on the other. It’s hair so be creative!
STEP 6:
And now you have your unicorn! Feel free to add extra elements to the body if you like, such as wings or a tail. (To draw the wings, add two swirly lines on both sides of the body and join them up with long U-shapes, like fingers.) Then colour your unicorn in!
Why we love it
“It’s been really fun creating this little tutorial for kids to follow along with (or adults, we’re not judging). I think we could all do with a few more magical unicorns in our lives. We hope it provides a little bit of fun while you’re staying safe at home.”
