Want to draw a narwhal?
In the latest in our series of fun tutorials for keeping the kids entertained (and the big kids!), our Project Manager and artistic ace Amie Pryal has put together an easy guide on how to draw your very own narwhal in six simple steps. Read on for more information and click here to download the guide in an easy-to-print format.
And if you enjoyed this, why not check out our guide to draw your very own unicorn? Happy drawing!
STEP 1:
Draw a swirly, upside down U-shape, like a balloon. This will be the body, so make it as big as you’d like your narwhal to be.
STEP 2:
Add two oval, leaf-shapes at the bottom of your balloon to make a tail. Like the unicorn, add two large circles for the eyes. Draw two smaller circles inside the eyes for a cartoon-look. Or, try drawing the eyes closed by adding two curved lines with eyelashes underneath.
STEP 3:
Like the unicorn, add lots of smaller circles at the top of your balloon shape, one on top of the other. Then add a pointy top to make the narwhal’s tooth.
STEP 4:
Now for the flippers. Draw two triangle shapes on either side of the body. Make sure the lines are a little curved to match the tail.
STEP 5:
Now add the narwhal’s smile and cute cheeks. Draw a curved line underneath the eyes to make a smiley mouth. Then add two oval circles either side.
STEP 6:
And now you have your narwhal! Feel free to add extra things to the body if you like, such as a heart-shaped tummy or eyelashes to the eyes. You could even add water bubbles around the outside of the narwhal to show that it’s swimming. Don’t forget to colour it in!
Why we love it
“It’s been really fun creating these little tutorials for kids to follow along with (or adults, we’re not judging). We hope it provides a little bit of fun while you’re staying safe at home.”
