We’re incredibly proud of our Chair and Owner, Corin Ashby, who went the extra mile for charity after completing the Great North Run last weekend.

Joined by 60,000 fellow runners, Corin finished the 13-mile course in just under two hours – and even managed to squeeze in a quick beer break along the way!

Corin is no stranger to long-distance running – this was the sixth time he completed the annual half-marathon, which he marked by supporting Cancer Research UK. And this particular Great North Run took place under special circumstances, as both runners and spectators came together to honour the life of Queen Elizabeth II before the start of the event.

Corin said: “The Great North Run is always a fantastic occasion, but it was made especially poignant given the passing of Her Majesty The Queen. Before the race, a minute’s silence was observed, and you could hear a pin drop – it was very moving.

“I made it round the course (just!) in under two hours – walking and crawling briefly three times, as well as a short beer stop at the 10-mile mark! Well done to everyone who took part, you made the day one to remember.”
