Amy recently donated a length of her hair to the charity A Child’s Voice Foundation, via ‘Angel hair for kids’. This programme provides human hair wigs for children who have lost their hair due to cancer or other medical reasons and is a cause that means a lot to Amy, as she shared:

“My family members and I have participated in this programme for many years now. I lost a childhood friend to cancer and because of that, it’s always been a very poignant cause for me. Having long participated in a variety of cancer-related fundraising activities, donating hair is a very personal contribution, as it takes years to grow with continuous time and effort to maintain it.

“Before we started, my hairstylist asked me if I was ready, because there can be some nerves leading up to the chop as it’s years in the making. However, I was completely at ease as I knew everything was going towards a great cause and I’m so glad to have supported it.

“My new hair feels luxurious and is much easier to maintain and I’m looking forward to my next donation. If you ever see me with ridiculously long hair, you know I’ll be getting ready for it!”

Fun 44 fact

The hairdresser estimated that Amy had 66cm total hair length, and she donated half of that at 33cm. That means before it was donated – compared against her height – Amy was approximately 40% hair!
