We’ve had cause to celebrate after clinching a fantastic Institute of Internal Communication (IoIC) Central and North Awards win.
It’s been a challenging year, but The Point – the monthly newspaper we produce for the Hinkley Point C (HPC) workforce – has continued to go from strength to strength, resulting in a top industry award.
The annual awards recognise and celebrate outstanding internal communications in the central and northern regions. We overcame quality competition from John Lewis and Anglian Water to scoop the Class Winner prize in the ‘Best Newspaper/Newsletter’ category, and we’re incredibly pleased and proud of the result.
Since 2014, our editorial and design teams have worked closely with the HPC Communications team to continue to produce innovative, fresh content to ensure team members working on the nuclear new build are kept up to date with the latest project news.
Olivia Hamilton, Internal Communications Consultant for EDF, and Editor of The Point, said: “I am so pleased The Point had been recognised, particularly after such a challenging year.
“Over the past 12 months we’ve tackled new concepts to evolve the publication. We’ve made a number of changes and we’ve approached our communications around Covid-19-related content and the impact it’s had on team members in a very honest, engaging way. It’s lovely to hear such positive feedback.”
Imogen Charnley, Project Manager for 44 Communications, said: “In putting together the newspaper, we see collaboration, dedication and a friendly welcome from everyone we meet, so I’m particularly pleased the team ethos of HPC has been recognised with this fantastic achievement!”
