The year may be drawing to a close, but 44 is still going strong, clinching yet another coveted accolade to add to its trophy cabinet.
The team attended the Hinkley Point C (HPC) Excellence Awards, where we were recognised as Best Off Site Supplier, beating two other competitors to become HPC award winners.
The ceremony, which was held at Bridgwater’s McMillan Theatre, celebrated first-rate contributions from suppliers and members of the workforce to the HPC project throughout 2018. The awards were divided into four overall themes: People; Supply Chain; Technical; and Safety, Quality, Sustainability and Innovation.
From hundreds of nominations, the judges chose their HPC award winners based on nominees’ ability to show how they have integrated and collaborated with teams across the project and demonstrated innovation.
44 came out on top for its work on the Team HPC newspaper, The Point.
For the past four years, we’ve worked closely with HPC’s Comms team – and the readership – to develop the newspaper into the essential channel it now is for all HPC workers. Judges praised the team’s responsiveness, as well as our understanding of HPC and its operations.
HPC is the first nuclear power station to be built in the UK in a generation. It is due to become fully operational in 2025, and will power more than six million homes in the South West.
Gemma said: “I can’t express how proud I am of the team, who put their all into this project every single day. HPC grows ever-more complex and we work incredibly hard to reflect the changing project and its workforce’s needs in The Point’s pages. All of this is done in close collaboration with the Comms team and by having an in-depth understanding of HPC. It’s a privilege to be involved in this unique project, and to become HPC award winners.”
