Having our cake and eating it

Caring for people with cancer is a cause close to all our hearts, so it made perfect sense for 44 to host another Macmillan Coffee Morning this year.

We donned our aprons, picked up our wooden spoons and set to work baking our very best cakes.

We have some keen bakers at 44, but novice Jordan surprised us all with a delicious red velvet cake decorated with a message of support for Macmillan. Meanwhile, Eddie’s lime shortbread men practically walked off the plate.

“It was another fantastic event,” said Hana, who organised this year’s Coffee Morning. “Everybody put in lots of effort, and we managed to raise a fantastic £165 from our cake-baking. Then the company matched this figure making it a fantastic £330 for Macmillan.”

That is more than enough to pay for a Macmillan nurse to spend 11 hours with people who have just been diagnosed with cancer.
