Raising some dough for Macmillan
There was a big question in the 44 office on Friday morning – just how early is too early for cake?
Team 44 were once again keen to show our support for Macmillan, and the amazing work they do, by taking part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning to raise more than £300 for the charity.
And while most of us are more comfortable with story briefs than recipe books, that didn’t stop the team from getting stuck in.
From cheese scones to cheesecake, we had an assortment of delicious and occasionally intriguing offerings.
We had Emily’s mysteriously titled Gingerbread muffin surprise – where the surprise was that she’d run out of ginger.
Plus, we had fighting talk with the battle of the lemon drizzles. Not that we’re a competitive bunch.
Designer Ola proved he can work magic in the kitchen as well as on a Mac with a showstopping Bakewell tart – which earned him the much-coveted title of Star Baker.
“We love a Macmillan Coffee Morning at 44!” said Jo, who organised the event. “The cause is close to our hearts and to see everyone’s efforts is fantastic! The most important thing is that we’ve raised a lot of money to help those in need of Macmillan nurses and services’.
