Our superhuman effort for charity
Our dynamic duo Zoe and Hana – or rather Wonder Woman and Batgirl – are set to descend 100ft from a Birmingham city building in a daring charity abseil in June. But why – and how will they get on?
Picture this. It’s Wednesday 22nd June. It’s 1pm. Three members of the 44 team are standing on the roof of a 13-floor building, dressed as superheroes, ready to walk over the side.
The Boparan Charitable Trust is supported by 2 Sisters Food Group (2SFG) and helps children with disabilities, life-limiting conditions and children living in extreme poverty. To support our work with 2SFG and to do our bit for the charity, we’ll be taking part in their superhero abseil to help generate awareness and much-needed donations.
First, editorial assistants Zoe and Hana, and designer Andy will be escorted to the fifth floor of No.1 Colmore Row (pictured right) where they will power up with some super refreshments. Then, they’ll head to the roof for their abseil – a dizzy 13 floors up. Afterwards, on reaching solid ground, they’ll be met by reporters from the fictional newspaper The Daily Planet for photos and interviews.
“I’m hoping that Wonder Woman’s superhuman strength, speed and agility will help me conquer the challenge,” said Zoe.
Hana is similarly optimistic: “As long as I don’t look down it’ll all be fine.”
We’ll be reporting live via our social media channels on the day, so be sure to stay tuned to see how Zoe, Hana and Andy get on.
